Te Kete Aronui a Ngāti Koata Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Te Pātaka a Ngāti Koata Trust. It holds the assets returned to Ngāti Koata through the 2006 Crown Settlement.

Its holdings include:

  • Forestry lands in Hira and Waimea
  • French Pass School

Dave Ashcroft

The Ngāti Koata Group is pleased to welcome Dave Ashcroft to the team. Dave brings a wealth of experience and skills to the team.

Dave was born in Auckland and is married to Victoria. Dave and Victoria have three children who were all born and bred in Nelson.

Dave is a member of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), New Zealand Institute of Directors (NZIoD), and Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). He has worked in accounting and governance in New Zealand, Europe, North America and Australia and has experience across a wide variety of industries including Fishing and Aquaculture. In 2014 Dave won the Aspiring Director Award for NZIoD Nelson Marlborough.

Dave is the Chair of the Board of Trustees at Enner Glynn School, an independent member of the NMDHB Audit and Risk Committee, a Board member at Age Concern Nelson Tasman, and coach of a junior girl’s football team at Suburbs FC.

Ngāti Koata is delighted to have Dave on the Audit and Risk Committee of the Trusts, and since July 2016, as a Director of the Ngāti Koata Commercial Group entities.

Rāhui Kātene

Rāhui Kātene, a legal consultant, is a member of the Ngāti Koata and Te Pātaka a Ngāti Koata Trusts, and Trustee appointee on the boards of Koata Limited and Te Kete Aronui a Ngāti Koata Limited.

A former Member of Parliament representing Te Tai Tonga, and a former Deputy Chair of the New Zealand Māori Council, Chair of the Wellington District Māori Council, Chair of the Porirua Māori Committee, and a member of the Māori Womens Welfare League, Rāhui has a long history of community activism.

While in Parliament Rāhui not only ably represented the people of her electorate, she was responsible for portfolios which included Constitutional Issues, Justice, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Local Government, Environment and Finance; she sat on three select committees: Finance and Expenditure, Local Government and Environment, and Regulations Review; and also sat on two special committees: Emissions Trading Scheme Review and Electoral Reform; and introduced two private member bills.

Prior to entering Parliament, Rāhui was Managing Solicitor of Te Rātonga Ture (Māori Legal Services), a Treaty of Waitangi claims consultant, analyst at the Justice Department, and claims manager at Crown Forestry Rental Trust. She has a law degree from Victoria University of Wellington.

Rāhui is married to Dr Selwyn Kātene (Ngāti Toa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Tama), has five adult children and eight beautiful mokopuna.
